Winter Quarter Meetings
- Tuesday January 12th: HPA's first meeting of the quarter! Kristine Pendon from the Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse will be speaking about available internship and volunteer opportunities! Also, Scotti Warren from Street Health Outreach and Doctors without Walls will be speaking about volunteer opportunities! This is a great meeting to find a way to get involved in community outreach. Meeting to be held at HSSB 1174 at 7PM.
- Monday January 25th: John Vowels from the Cottage Hospital scribe program will be
discussing what the scribe programs entails, as well as offer
applications to positions that will be opening up soon.
A scribe is someone who works alongside the doctor as a personal
documentation assistant. The scribe accompanies the doctor into the
patient room, takes notes to document completely the encounter between
the doctor and the patient, and works with x-rays and labs. As a
result, one would get first hand experience of what it's like to work
in a hospital and gain a knowledge of medical terminology, treatments,
pathophysiology, and bedside manner. This is a great opportunity so please take advantage of this! Meeting to be held at 7PM at HSSB 1173.
- Saturday February 6th: HPA's Annual Health Conference!! This is our biggest event of the year where we bring various health professional to come and speak to you, as well as, answer any questions you have on the pathways these professionals chose and how they got there.
